Honolulu Criminal Defense Lawyers

If you are accused of being involved in a crime in Hawaii, the best thing you can do is to hire a criminal defense lawyer. A good criminal defense lawyer has good knowledge of the criminal justice system and can evaluate your case to tell you what you can expect. Furthermore, a good criminal defense lawyer may be able to decrease the charges or reduce the sentence. If you are living in Honolulu County, you have probably noticed there are hundreds of criminal defense attorneys.

Here are some things you should consider when searching for an attorney:

  • Knowledge and Experience – If you need to go to court, the best option for you is to hire an attorney who has tried cases similar to your case and one who feels comfortable in the courtroom. This is why the lawyers at the Attorneys for Freedom Law Firm are one of the best options. Our attorneys have previously represented adults, minors, professionals, and people of different ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and religious beliefs. It is very important to have an attorney who understands the details and elements of certain crimes rather than hiring one who only dabbles in criminal law or who is specialized in some other area of law. The lawyers at the Attorneys for Freedom law firm have been practicing criminal defense for nearly three decades and can represent clients in both State and Federal court.
  • Determination – Our attorneys are well known for their determination to get the best results for our clients in every case. No matter what accusations you are facing, you can be assured all the attorneys at the Attorneys for Freedom Law Firm will fight hard and determinedly for you. We are aware that many allegations are false and that every story has at least two sides. The Attorneys for Freedom are ready to present your story in the courtroom for you in the best possible way. Our knowledge and experience help us to determine what is really going on in your case.
  • Expert Contacts – Over the years, we have established strong professional relationships with numerous experts who can help in certain cases. In many cases, the jury needs to hear the opinion of an expert. This is where The Attorneys for Freedom Law Firm can help too. Their opinions are crucial in some cases, and not all criminal defense attorneys can say they already have relationships with as many experienced experts as we do.
  • Building a Strategy – Our attorneys will analyze your case in detail, and then sit down with you and plan a strategy to attack the charges. We will custom tailor the best possible defense for your case and think outside the box to get you the best results possible. This includes doing our own investigations and witness interviews. You will be updated about the progress of your case, where you will be able to share your own views.

You should never speak to law enforcement without first speaking with your attorney. If you are being questioned by anyone in law enforcement, just read the message on the back of the Attorneys for Freedom business card, then just shut up.

“I refuse to consent to any search whatsoever. As such, I do not consent to a search of my premises, my person, my immediate location, or any vehicle or effects. I hereby exercise my rights as enumerated by the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and Article Two of the Arizona Constitution. I demand to have my attorney present prior to and throughout any questioning at all. Additionally, I request to call my attorney right now for a private consultation.”

Felony crimes are the most serious of crimes someone can be charged with. In Hawaii, felonies are divided into (3) three categories according to their seriousness. These felony classes are Class A, Class B, and Class C, with Class A being the most serious.

Examples of Class A felonies include:

  • Murder
  • Sexual Assault in the first degree
  • Promoting a dangerous drug in the first degree
  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Kidnapping in the first degree

Punishments

The punishments listed below are for first-time offenders. If the defendant has 2 or more convictions, the penalties will be even more severe. Also, Class B and Class C felonies are probation eligible.

  • Class A – First time convictions carry 20 years to life prison sentence, and up to a $50,000 fine.
  • Class B – First time convictions carry up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $25,000.
  • Class C – First time convictions carry up to 5 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.

There may be other penalties such as probation, driver’s license suspension, or more depending on the nature of the offense. In addition, you will have a permanent criminal record that can be easily found through a background check. This could affect you when seeking employment, renting a home, acquiring a professional license, and more.

I am new to AOR, having just joined a few days ago (May 2024). I am very impressed with their... customer service; kudos to Braeden Victor, Mike Wasdin, and the others who have assisted me via the Support email team. Being new to self defense, I had tons of questions about the contract, emergency form, and general questions. Some were probably not the most intelligent, but everyone treated me with respect and answered issues they have probably answered a thousand times. I sincerely hope I never have to use the firm, but if I do, I feel confident in receiving the best service.read more
